Divinely dark
When you’ve just got one colour to work with and that colour is black, it’s easy to think the resulting kitchen is going to be a bit like a dungeon! But quite the opposite effect has been created in this kitchen we designed and built recently for a client in Christchurch.
The brief was for a simple, luxurious and bold kitchen that exudes sophistication. So we got to work on the design and made it a priority to have strong, clean lines in a cohesive style. We used handle-less push-to-open technology with all the cabinetry, which adds to that minimalist look and leaves an uncluttered space for the client to enjoy. In addition, we factored in space for the appliances to be hidden behind integrated doors, so nothing was out on show.

Our designers worked hard to achieve that striking blend of vertical texture in the cabinetry and horizontal lines in the island bench. The gold and white seams in the granite benchtop bring that sense of sophistication to another level – it’s almost like the island bench is object d’art!
The benchtop is a frequent talking point for guests of the home – it’s certainly a defining feature of the room and the home. And with the kitchen cabinetry extending effortlessly into the living space, which includes a bar and server, this home is elevated to divine heights, thanks to this kitchen design, manufacture and install.
