A Mairehau Masterpiece

This dream family kitchen is a well earned reward for our dream clients Lisa and Paul. After a long building process they now have a kitchen they and their family love.

One of things that made working with them such a pleasure was their crystal clear vision. They knew what they wanted, and it was our role to listen and advise on the finer points of kitchen design and make sure that everything functioned perfectly. We think the result of our collaboration speaks for itself.

A bench that’s also a colour palette

The initial concept was a pure white kitchen, but when Artizan Stone ‘Infinity Dark Quartzite’ was chosen for the benches in the main kitchen and butler’s pantry, that idea was quickly replaced by the striking colour scheme you see here.

In fact, the subtly vivid pops of green in the stone lead to a complete reimagining of the colour scheme throughout the living area and utility spaces. The same stone is also used for the laundry bench as well, and ties everything together beautifully.

Quality all the way

As you’d expect the cabinetry and fittings are top quality throughout. We are dedicated Blum hardware fans at Millbrook Kitchens, because you just cannot beat its quality and durability.

Bestwood Panels provided the superbly finished joinery in rich wood tones, which complement the lovely antique bronze handles we sourced from Elite Hardware perfectly.

The black stainless steel Mercer Aurora Sink adds an unexpected something special – which works perfectly with the moody theme established by the bench tops and cabinets.

Enhanced lighting design

So while we say the tone is moody it works in this house because of the abundant natural light that infuses the kitchen area from the windows and skylights. We improved the initial lighting plan with dedicated lighting for the worktops, and accent lighting underneath the bench and cabinets.

Overall effect is a warm, welcoming kitchen area that works just as well as a kitchen as it does an entertaining space, and reflects the overall moody, atmospheric vibe of the house.

A kitchen that works in more ways than one.

What makes this kitchen work so well in multiple roles is that it’s so easy to keep all the clutter out of sight behind large doors or in the ‘to die for’ butlers pantry.

With teenage children living at home the house is always busy and being able to use it in a variety of ways adds to the brilliant livability of the entire home.
